The RIMpro-Cydia model is based on experiences with codling moth models developed and validated in Europe and North America within the past 15 years.
Our model continues to be updated and improved every year using the latest scientific findings. The model incorporates detailed information on codling moth behaviour under different climatic conditions,
and it calculates the extent of the second generation. The model also shows flight activity of adult moths at dawn, the extent of oviposition and egg hatching for the first and second generation.
The forecast module predicts future events of the life-ycle by extrapolation from previously recorded temperatures.
Codling moth management
Results from pheromone trap catches are of little use to farmers who use the mating disruption method and wish to make additional insecticide applications.
RIMpro-Cydia can be used for the timing of important applications.
Farmer using a granulovirus-based strategy for the control of codling moth populations may use the graphical display to make the following assessments:
- When is it possible to widen the time intervals between successive applications?
- When is it permissible to reduce the dosage applied?
A targeted application of ovicidal compounds is also possible because RIMpro predicts the period of oviposition periods. The prediction of egg haching periods can be used for timing larvicidal insecticides.
